Happy Summer my fellow freelancing peeps!
A lot has happened recently… here’s an outline!
What I’ve Been Up To:
I recently finished my time at The Nation and I will miss that place dearly. Anyone who wants to learn more about fact-checking and wants to have the opportunity to write for a national publication should consider applying for the future cohort of their internship program.
I made my debut in Teen Vogue! I wrote about having crappy skin, second puberty, and adult acne (-___-). If I’m going to suffer from a skin condition, may as well make money right?
I started a Medium pub on the side called Cheap AF. It’ll be about freelancing and living it up on a budget. One of my first posts was about how I treat myself as a freelancer and it’s full of Amazon links that you should click on so that I can buy a MetroCard next month! You don’t have to buy anything on that list, but if you do your online shopping after clicking the link, I get a commission at no extra cost to you.
How To Write for My Pub:
I recently wrote a post about how to write for Cheap AF. I technically want a story about money woes (and triumphs), budgeting in a way that makes sense for millennials and Gen Z, and absolutely nooooo posts about how we’d be better off if we didn’t buy avocado toast. We didn’t mess up this economy… we’re just living in it.
If you’d like to write for the pub, follow Cheap AF on Medium, and then comment on my post and tell me what you’d like to write about. That’s it!
Have a good week, more gigs and internships to come in the next newsletter.
