Hola.
It’s been a month. I finally went back to the Caribbean to visit my family and it was cool. I wrote a quick blog about it. It was nice and I only felt two aftershocks in Puerto Rico and not any major earthquakes.
What I’ve been up to:
I have a bunch of freelance stuff coming up (a lot of it is climate stuff), including a post about using asopao and sancocho to survive the tail end of winter.
I also have written more things about technology, including this post about cloud tech for banking, this post about underwriting small to medium sized businesses for loans , and another one about .
Some days I wake up and I feel like I really get data gateways and AI and other tech-ey things. So that’s cool. Also, here’s a post about why I graduated without any student debt. It was all thanks to luck and the CUNY system (which used to be free once upon a time).
Also, I have anxiety and Twitter makes it worse, so I blogged about that too.
Check this out:
I really like the newsletter This Needs Hot Sauce. It’s written by Abigail who I had the honor of working with once upon a time (2018 lol).
I also like Deez Links. Mainly for the name, but also for the spicy spicy spicy content.
Eddie Martinez, a fellow alum of what once was the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism (now the Newmark School), wrote about being paid to stand in line for another journalist during the Harvey Weinstein trial. It’s in the Columbia Journalism Review and it beautifully outlines just how exploited young journalists are.
Gig:
Mashable is always looking for editorial fellows for different topics. Here’s one for an entertainment position.
Unrelated:
Bad Bunny dropped an album (YHLQMDLG). I adore him so I bring him up in conversation every singe chance I get. Here’s what I think is the best song (si veo a tu mamá which means “if I see your mom”) on the album, and here’s a piano version of it.
That’s it. That’s the newsletter. Bye.
